Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out info@tempotherapeuticmassage.com if you can't find an answer to your question.

Swedish massage, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, cupping. I specialize in deep tissue and therapeutic massage focused on pain relief, tension release, and recovery. Each session is tailored to you based on your style preference and what your body needs.

Yes. My work is more focused than a traditional relaxation massage. While you can still relax during the session, the goal is to address tension and areas that need attention.

Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level. Most of my clients require medium to deep, but I adapt based on how your body responds.

It depends on your body structure, tension, and the results you’re looking for.  A full body massage covers your back, scalp, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, feet, and sometimes your face. To give each area proper attention without rushing, most people need at least 60 minutes, and often 90. However, depending on your body frame and level of tension, even 60 minutes can feel short. Larger or more muscular bodies, or those carrying higher tension may require additional time for the most effective results.

It’s best to avoid massage immediately after an injury, fall, or traumatic physical event. Once you’ve been medically evaluated, therapeutic massage techniques like deep tissue, trigger point therapy, or myofascial release may help support long-term healing and reduce chronic discomfort.

The ideal frequency depends on your individual needs, goals, and budget. Some clients schedule weekly sessions, others come twice a month, while many find that a monthly massage works well for them.

For clients with typical muscle tension (rather than chronic or complex conditions), the type of therapeutic work I provide often keeps them feeling good for up to six weeks. For that reason, I generally recommend returning every 5–6 weeks to help maintain the results before tension has a chance to build up again. This works out to about 8–10 sessions per year for ongoing maintenance.

If you're dealing with chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or have a specific treatment goal, I may recommend a different schedule initially and adjust it as your body improves.

Yes, I accept HSA and FSA payments. I can also provide a detailed receipt if needed for reimbursement.

I always encourage clients to speak up!
If you need more or less pressure, if the table warmer is too warm or not warm enough, if the music volume needs adjusting, or if you're feeling too hot or too cold, just let me know. If you'd like me to revisit an area that was worked on earlier, that’s totally fine too.
Almost anything can be adjusted. Your comfort is essential, and open communication helps me tailor the session to your needs in real time.

I don’t offer in-home or mobile sessions. My work requires specialized tools and a proper setup so I can provide detailed, effective massage safely and consistently.
My office setting allows me to deliver the best possible experience for both my clients and myself.

My schedule fills up quickly, but I occasionally have last-minute cancellations. If you're looking for a same-day appointment, feel free to text me at (415) 850-4498. If an opening becomes available, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Yes, I offer prenatal massage for expecting individuals to help relieve stress and ease the physical changes that come with pregnancy. Many therapists (myself included) recommend waiting until the second trimester because the first 12 weeks are the most delicate stage of pregnancy. After that, massage can be a wonderful support throughout your pregnancy journey unless your pregnancy is considered high risk and your doctor advises otherwise. During your session, you’ll be comfortably supported with pillows in a side-lying or semi-reclined position, and I’ll use gentle to moderate pressure tailored to your needs.

Tips are not expected. This is a private massage therapy practice, and I price sessions transparently to reflect the full value of the work. If you choose to leave a gratuity, it is always appreciated, but it is neither required nor assumed.
